Dal Masala Fry (Masal Vada) is simple to make and all time favourite recipe and very crispy and yummy 😋. It is a very common and healthy South Indian recipe. This is quick pick for an instant party or guest visits or for an evening snack for kids.

Making of Dal Masala Patty


Main Ingredients


  1. Channa Dhall 1 cup

  2. Green chilli 3 

  3. Garlic 🧄 3 cloves

  4. Ginger 1 inch

  5. Fennel seeds 2 tbsp

  6. Onion 🧅 1

  7. Coriander 🍃

  8. Oil to fry


Dal Soaking and Grinding Process


  1. Soak Channa Dhall for 2-3 hours

  2. In a mixer grinder, grind onion 🧅,chilli, garlic 🧄 , ginger, coriander leaves 🍃 and fennel seeds

  3. Then add soaked Channa Dhall and grind it roughly without adding water 💦(not to grind to a smooth paste)

  4. If it is too thick 1,2 tbsp water 💦 can be added

  5. Add salt 🧂 as per taste

  6. Take out and keep it aside


Dal Masala Patty Frying


  1. Take a tawa and add oil for frying, keep the stove on a medium flame

  2. Now make patty with the batter

  3. Put the patty in oil and fry till it gets golden consistency

  4. Turn the sides so that it gets evenly fried

  5. Take out and keep it on a kitchen towel or tissue to dry excess oil

  6. Dal Masala Patty ready
